Resources

We are pleased to publish a resource developed from Significance 2.0 – the summary card.

This is a summary of the 10-step significance assessment process, presented as a checklist. On the flipside the primary and comparative criteria are listed, and some basic guidance is given on how to use them.

Click HERE to access the Significance 2.0 summary card.

The card is designed to be printed and used as a ready reference for your significance assessment work.

We are also pleased to direct you to the Significance e-learning module, developed by Deborah Bowman of the Canberra Institute of Technology. It is based on the first edition of Significance: a guide to assessing the significance of cultural heritage objects and collections (2001), and therefore focuses on single item significance assessment. The Collections Council of Australia was the industry partner for this project, which was funded by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework.

The Significance e-learning module is an exciting new vocational resource for training in significance assessment. Upon successful completion of the module, participants gain a nationally accredited unit of competency (Research, describe and document cultural material CULMs610C)

To formally enrol in the Significance e-learning module or to find out about other qualifications in Museum Practice at the Canberra Institute of Technology, please contact Deborah Bowman at deborah.bowman@cit.act.edu.au or Toni Purnell at toni.purnell@cit.act.edu.au or telephone (02) 6207 4348.
